Reddit is a community network, not a single startup directory. People join topic-specific subreddits to share links, questions, stories, media, and discussions, while votes and comments shape visibility. Founders can find feedback and potential users, but each subreddit controls its purpose, accepted formats, promotion policy, moderation, and eligibility.
Posting requires an account. The official flow starts by choosing a relevant community, checking its rules, and selecting an allowed format such as Post, Images & Video, or Link. A descriptive, accurate title and post content are required; NSFW and spoiler labels must be added when applicable, and some communities require tags or flair. Communities may limit post types or require approved-user status, account age, karma, or verified email.
Reddit publishes no platform-wide price for ordinary community posts, so cost is Unknown rather than guessed. Reddit Premium does not bypass spam filters, and Reddit Pro is a separate free business suite. Promotion is not automatically spam, but communities may prohibit it or limit self-promotion. Repeated, unwanted, or unsolicited promotion can be removed and can lead to restrictions.
There is no universal approval process or timing. Posts may publish immediately, be blocked by eligibility rules, be filtered, or be removed or approved by volunteer moderators, so review remains Unknown with no global SLA. A current r/SideProject external-link post was audited in live Reddit HTML: its product anchors used rel="nofollow nofollow ugc" or rel="nofollow". Ordinary user-submitted links are not dofollow, regardless of votes, rank, badges, or Premium status.
